Why Flow Rate Is Important When Choosing A New Boiler

There are a few things to consider when you are buying a new Combi boiler, not just price and size; you also have to think about something called Flow Rate.

Put simply, flow rate represents how many litres of hot water comes out of your tap in a minute.

Flow rate is determined by the amount and pressure of water that is coming into your property from the water main in the street and then the ability of your boiler to heat that water to the temperature you have set.

For example, a single bathroom property in a 1 or 2 bedroom flat will only require a small combi with a flow rate of around 10m Litres Per Minute (LPM). In properties with two or more bathrooms it is important to opt for a higher hot water flow rate as it will be halved if, for example, two showers are in use at the same time. To be honest, when thinking about a large house, quite often a system boiler would be a better option anyway.

You have to be careful when choosing though as some boilers can appear quite large and actually don’t have a great flow rate. We at www.getyournewboiler.co.uk only sell boilers that have an appropriate flow rate for the requirements you enter in our quote tool.
